Before you know it Voting Day will be here!

Many fellow candidates are out ‘boots on the ground’, ‘pressing palms’,

‘kissing babies’, ‘petting your dog’;

all while trying to make a great impression to win

YOUR VOTE.

Here are a few questions to ask yourself about casting your ballot:

1. When is Election day?
   • Monday October 26, 2026, 10:00am – 8:00pm
2. I am in Ward 5. Where are my Voting Day locations?

   • First Baptist Church, 99 Thomas St, Wallaceburg

   • Knights of Columbus Hall, 800 Murray St at Baseline Rd, Wallaceburg
   • Christian Reformed Church, 150 Bruinsma Ave, Wallaceburg
3. When are advanced polls?
   • Thursday October 15, 12:00pm - 7:00pm
   • Friday October 16, 10:00am - 4:00pm
   • Sunday October 17, 10:00am – 4:00pm
4. I am in Ward 5. Where is my Advanced Poll?
   • First Baptist Church, 99 Thomas Ave, Wallaceburg
5. Is there online voting?
   • Yes
   • Thursday October 8, 10:00am – Friday October 16, 4:00pm
   • You can use your computer, tablet, or smart phone to vote
   • A one-time code will be mailed to registered electors. Your VINs card will have instructions to follow (see question #14)
6. I have a disability. Can you accommodate me?
   • Yes
   • Please inform the Greeter at the Advanced Polls or on the Day of Election that you require assistance and/or accommodation. You can also bring a friend to help you. (They will be required to take an Oath of Affirmation.) 
   • Online programs for Municipal Voting pass all mandatory compliance regulations in Canada

7. Am I Registered to Vote in this Municipal Election?
   • From September 1 – October 26, 2026, you can check whether you are on a Voters’ List and submit an application to Amend the Voters’ List to update your information, add or remove your name, or request the removal of a deceased elector.
8. How do I register to vote?
   • From September 1 – October 26, 2026, you can submit an application to Amend the Voters’ List in person at any Chatham-Kent Municipal Centre or by attending an Advance Voting or Election Day location
9. What Ward am I in? Yes, the boundaries have changed!

10. Do I need ID?
    • Yes
    • Identification is required when you vote. You will need to show ID which contains your name and address. You might have to show 2 pieces of ID
11. The ballots are paper ballots. You will be given a Sharpie marker to use to mark your ballots.
    • Do not use your own pen or pencil
12. How are the ballots counted at the end of the Election?
    • All ballots will be counted using a Tabulator Machine
13. I am a student. Where do I vote?
    • Students are allowed to vote in both their home municipality and the municipality where they are attending school.
14. When will I receive my Voter Identification Number Card (VINs)?
    • Every eligible elector registered to vote should receive their VINs no later than the second week of October.
    • Your VINs card will contain:
      1. The elector’s unique Elector identification number with barcode
      2. Dates, hours, and locations of voting (including advanced and internet voting)
      3. Voter eligibility criteria
      4. Location and contact information for the Municipality Clerk’s Office (Election Office)
